The new normal. You may use this phrase or detest it?
There’s no doubt that the events of 2020 changed everything locally, nationally and locally.
The word “furlough” entered into common parlance as companies were forced to temporarily (or permanently) close due to Coronavirus. Now whether we will see a vaccine or a return of Covid 19, we can’t predict at the time of writing this.
What we can say though, with some certainty (based on facts), is that working patterns may never return to normal.
If corporate business giants can adapt to conducting business remotely, who’s to say that pattern won’t become permanent?
Zoom, Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp video technology has made face to face communication easy in the absence of physical proximity.
Most homes are equipped with high speed fibre broadband and companies like Dell, HP, Microsoft, Apple and Samsung have reported record online sales of mobile technology, like smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops with many employees perhaps realising that Working From Home may well become a long term phenomenon.
With cloud technology, fast internet connections and instant video messaging, why wouldn’t this continue in 2021 and beyond?
At Cash Connectors, Leicester, we have been physically closed for the first part of 2020 in line with other retailers, but, as lockdown eases and Covid 19 cases decrease, we are seeing huge demand for all sorts of technology from smartphones to consoles, from iPads to laptops.
You may find too that as demand is high, it is a good time to upgrade.
